The Treenis has been cut down!

Ever since I can remember, the tedium of car journeys up and down the M74 has been broken by uncontrolled giggling (sometimes by adults as well as children) whenever Castle Crawford Woods hoves into view just outside the village of Crawford in South Lanarkshire. The reason for the hilarity is that nobody calls it Castle Crawford Woods. Most people have their own pet name for the humorously shaped historic woodlands - Willie Forest, Penis Woods ... The Treenis ... and Cock Of The North being just a clutch of them. Yes, this phallic shaped clump of trees has cheered us all up as we zoomed past. However, the time has come for the commercially planted timber to be harvested and (at today's date) only the, erm, bawbag section remains - the whole Treenis has been thoroughly emasculated by its Scottish Forestry owners.  I had a look on some old maps and it dates back at least 200 years as you can see by this old map from the 1840s. I'm not sure who owns Tewsgill Hill, the location of ...
